Our party from New York today was looking for big fish. Not long after setting the spread I looked back and saw a white marlin on the short rigger. After 3 full minutes of trying, I got a hook in it, only to have it jump off upon coming tight. We saw another white marlin in the spread but it was just a window shopper. We then made some turns and caught a small mahi they wanted to throw back. Soon we got a big fish bite on the long rigger on an 80 wide quickly to the boat and was a nice wahoo. Unfortunately the big fish chewed thru our 100lb fluorocarbon leader only 3 feet from getting stuck with the gaff. We spent the rest of the day trolling by wood and anything that may hold wahoo's and marlins that could be eating mahi's but we were only able to attract a lot more mahi. I have to take my hat off to these guys because we could have loaded the boat with 60 mahi easily if they wanted to bail them and load the box. They only wanted to keeping 3 of the mahi.

Another day with Chris and Demetrie trying for some mahi, trolling trap markers and buoy's in the morning with a few pull offs and other small fish bites. The ocean was smooth so we decided to make a run inshore to a flounder/seabass spot to the north and bottom fish. The drifts were long and very productive, The flounder were thick in the 16-17.5 inch range, but keepers hard to come by in the 3 hours we were there. We did have one 20 inch keeper flounder and lost another one right at the boat. Demetrie caught 3 keeper seabass on clams. We must have caught 30-40 flounder, lingcod, seabass, and sea robbins

Had Chris and Demetrie Kornias fish with us today from Bel Air, MD. They always spend 4 or 5 days with us over the summer and no matter what goes into the box we always have fun. The morning almost passed without a bite and there was talk of bottom fishing. Suddenly we had a good bite and put Demetrie's first yellowfin tuna in the box. Not long after that we found 3 balloons floating and caught two more mahi on a hand full of bites. We finally end the day catching a skipjack tuna.

Today we saw everything we were looking for minus the fish. There were whales, sea turtles, flying fish, current rips, schools of bait on the surface and big blobs of bait on the fish finder all over the ocean. We only had two or three bites all day and only put one nice mahi in the box. When we got back we found that only one or two boats had an OK day and the rest of us were lucky if we had even one fish.

The offshore forecast was for light and variable today and that's all I could think of as it blew a steady 25 knots. The waves being close together and very steep made it hard to stand up, but we did catch two mahi and a yellowfin out of a just a small hand full of bites.

We had a half day shark trip with a family from Reading, PA on the boat today. Set out the chum bucket and waited. In no time we had some really small bluefish bites with no luck hooking any. After two hours of not really drifting and no shark bites, I made a move to a buoy that was nearby. We spent about a half hour catching small buoy jacks and then set back up shark fishing with no luck. So we stopped by the buoy again on the way home to catch a few more.

Had a 10 hour inshore trip today and instead of trolling out as far as I could, I should have stayed where I started, but you never know. Ended they day with a thunderstorm and a lot of lightning and one mahi in the box.

7/23

We spent the better part of the day listening to people on the radio saying they have yet to get a bite. Fishing was very slow today for us as well and at 1:15pm we wondered if we would get a fish in the box for this crew from Harrisburg, PA. 1:30pm the long rigger snaps out of the clip and in no time had a yellowfin tuna  in the box. So we turned around and caught another one. We had 3 bites all day with 2 fish in the box. That’s not a great day but turned out to be a banner day today based on what others caught!

Over-Board fished today with Steve Uhthoff, Ned Hammond, and Rob King from Annapolis, MD.  We fished outside the Hambone almost to the Hotdog with good signs of life. We caught 1 out of 2 yellowfin tuna while trolling through a pod of spinner dolphins. That fish measured a hair over 27 inches {legal size} and by the end of the day shrank to 26 and 3/4. In the end we had 12 bites and caught 2 yellowfins tunaand a nice mahi.

7/15

Today we tried to fish the Hotdog and there were way to many boats there for me, but we did get a nice mahi right on top of the hill. We spent the rest of the day listening to people catching fish on the radio with no luck of our own. Better late than never, we caught 4 yellowfin tuna trolling back to the Hambone late in the day and released another one earlier in the day.

We had a group of great anglers from just west of Pittsburgh today. We fished the Hamebone Area with good success in the morning catching one nice yellowfin tuna and 3 other small ones and kept just one out of the bunch. just when I thought we may run out of bait I couldn't get a bite and moved on offshore with no luck. Near the end of the day we pulled the hook on a big fish right behind the boat and had a couple other bites.

7/6

Our offshore trip with a crew from Pittsburgh, PA was great today. Most of our bites came on the “way back” rods in 30 fathoms. We landed 2 of our 3 yellowfin tuna bites, one nice mahi, and had one mako shark bite off, along with a couple other bites.

7/5

Had a very nice family from Dillsburg, PA on the boat today. This inshore trip started great with a 40 pound bluefin in the box not long after we got all our lines out. Then we drove all over the ocean without a pull, until we found the fish in the afternoon and released another bluefin that was about 25 pounds and had another 2 bites.

7/3

We had a father and his two sons out bottom fishing and the sea bass were not biting as good as I was expecting so we trolled bucktails on spinning rods and caught over 20 bluefish in the 20 inch range. They had a blast. It's funny how things can change from day to day out there.

7/2

Our group of guys from Western Maryland caught the largest bluefin tuna out of Ocean City this year weighing in at 107 pounds. They also landed two 40 pound yellowfin tuna fishing on the Over-Board with Capt. Dustin Lorah out of Fisherman's Marina in West Ocean City.

7/1   The ocean was flat calm and sunny all day but we couldn't find the fish anywhere and only had 3 bites. We caught 2 small bluefish in 20 fathoms.

6/28

We had a good day with the boys from Baltimore,MD on an inshore trip. Wound up with one bluefin tuna and a mahi in the box. We released another 40lb bluefin tuna and had quite a few other bites.

6/25

Today the ocean was almost completely smooth with a swell. We released 6 or so bluefin tuna and one undersize yellowfin tuna. We brought home a 40lb bluefin tuna and were lucky to boat a nice mako on the troll.

6/24

We fished straight out today away from the the rest of the fleet. We saw flying fish all over the place and the water looked really good. Unfortunately we had two sick customers and two enjoying the day. At 10:30am the sick ones won and we headed home with one bluefin tuna.

6/14

We had another great day on the water with good people, good fishing, and fantastic weather. The Wickwar family from Fort Collins, CO, enjoyed tuna fishing at its best today. The group kept the daily 2 fish limit and released another 10 bluefin tuna. Desiree caught the big one of the day at 75 pounds, but the rest of the crew released several nice fish in the 45 pound range.

6/4

We released a dusky shark and a hammerhead shark and also brought home a mako shark and four bluefish for the dinner table.
